Cell Mutagenic Autopolyploidy Enhances Salinity Stress Tolerance in Leguminous Crops

نویسندگان

چکیده

Salinity stress affects plant growth and development by causing osmotic nutrient imbalances through excess Na+, K+, Cl− ion accumulations that induce toxic effects during germination, seedling development, vegetative growth, flowering, fruit set. However, the of salt on processes, especially in polyploidized leguminous plants, remain unexplored scantly reported compared to their diploid counterparts. This paper discusses physiological molecular response legumes towards salinity stress-based ionic cells. A multigenic involving various compatible solutes, osmolytes, ROS, polyamines, antioxidant activity, together with genes encoding proteins involved signal transduction, regulation, mechanisms this stress, were identified discussed. discussion reaffirms polyploidization as driving force evolution adaptation environmental constraints such drought, feverish temperatures, and, particular, stress. As a result, thorough elucidation role gene duplication induced autopolyploidization possible regulating tolerance grain must be further studied.

Salt and Crops: Salinity Tolerance

Soils are delicate structures, and careless agricultural practices can destroy them. Crop decline resulting from increased soil salinity can be traced back thousands of years to Sumer and Babylonia. There, the original “Fertile Crescent” eventually turned into desert, destroyed by deforestation, unwise planting, and irrigation-induced soil salinity. Such decline in soil productivity also was ev...

Tolerance of vegetable crops to salinity

Global constraints on fresh water supplies and the need to dispose of agricultural, municipal, and industrial waste waters have intensified interest in water reuse options. In many instances, the value of the water is decreased solely because of its higher salt concentration. Although quantitative information on crop salt tolerance exists for over 130 crop species, there are many vegetables whi...

Salinity Stress and Salt Tolerance

Salinity is one of the most serious factors limiting the productivity of agricultural crops, with adverse effects on germination, plant vigour and crop yield (R Munns & Tester, 2008). Salinization affects many irrigated areas mainly due to the use of brackish water. Worldwide, more than 45 million hectares of irrigated land have been damaged by salt, and 1.5 million hectares are taken out of pr...

Salt tolerance classification of crops according to soil salinity and to water stress day index

The observations of a long-term experiment on the use of saline water were used to compare the crop tolerance to salinity. Salinity affected significantly yield, evapotranspiration, pre-dawn leaf water potential and stomatal conductance. The higher the salinity, the lower the yield, evapotranspiration, pre-dawn leaf water potential and stomatal resistance. The crop classification, based on soil...

Ky-2, a Histone Deacetylase Inhibitor, Enhances High-Salinity Stress Tolerance in Arabidopsis thaliana.

Adaptation to environmental stress requires genome-wide changes in gene expression. Histone modifications are involved in gene regulation, but the role of histone modifications under environmental stress is not well understood. To reveal the relationship between histone modification and environmental stress, we assessed the effects of inhibitors of histone modification enzymes during salinity s...
